It could be a fairytale ending to our best season so far. The team is riding well, with the riders making the cut for signup in the best shape possible. Whilst ambitions aren’t high for GC, with a notable lack of climbing and TT talent, the teams focus is instead in the sprinting nature of the tour. It has, in essence, been a sprinting stage race first, and GC tour second; SKTMB hopes to live up to tradition, entering a team focused on the sprints.
It will be tough, it’s a popular fixture on the calendar, always attracting the best riders, but team manager SueMay said the team couldn’t be in better condition for the challenge. Maybe they’ll win a stage, maybe they’ll do well in two. It’ll be a dream come true to place on the podium of the sprint classification.
Asked about any TT stage ambitions, Sherwin Keim said to press:
“Whilst the TT is very attractive to me, I am here for one reason only: as an integral part of Kiprianos’s lead out train. I’ll be saving my efforts for then.”
Kiprianos further clarified:
“I’ve been riding very well, but I owe it to the team and their unity, I couldn’t do it without them, and the success they’ve had in setting up lead out trains. Fast on Wheels will be no different, the team is focused on sprint wins.”
